Music
Pupils at John Hampden School are composers, performers and informed listeners. We embrace musical opportunities with the children through productions, instrument learning, music evenings, choir events and much more!
We have a specialist music teacher who delivers the curriculum and holds singing practices weekly. Lessons are in a nurturing, supportive atmosphere in which they can develop their music skills. Pupils who have previously had access to instrumental tuition outside of whole class lessons are suitably challenged while those who do not have previous experience can also access lesson content confidently.
Through music, pupils develop their awareness of the differences and similarities between music from different eras, composers and countries; they are able to confidently discuss these using the inter-related dimensions of music and an awareness of the role of music in the lives of different people throughout history.
