Our Year 6 children have led the school in John Hampden’s annual Remembrance Service, which included congregational singing, war poetry recitals and stories of some of the soldiers who lost their lives during the Great War. Year 6 are learning all about World War One this term, so leading the assembly was a great tribute to everyone who was involved. The assembly ended with the Last Post and a two-minute silence, which the children across all year groups observed with respect and poignancy.
We are extremely proud of our Year 6 children. Leading such an immotive assembly is not easy but they rose to the occasion and treated it with the seriousness and empathy it deserves.
When you go home, tell them of us and say,
“For your tomorrow, we gave our today.”
