Our Y6 footballers have competed in an epic final of the Manor Cup against Our Lady’s Primary School. Both teams progressed to the final after winning their matches in the previous rounds of the competition, seeing off stiff competition from several other schools.
JHS were absolutely fantastic in the final, taking the lead in the first half and then battling through to a 1-1 draw at full-time. After ten minutes of extra time, the score remained 1-1, which confirmed what we had all been dreading – that the winners would be decided in a penalty shoot-out. Our brave penalty-takers stepped forward and after five penalties each, the score was still tied, so it went to sudden-death. After some nail-biting further penalties, the match finally came to an end with Our Lady’s Primary lifting the trophy.
Obviously our team felt crushed after coming so close to victory, but they played some superb football and they should hold their heads high for the determination and incredible team spirit they showed throughout the final and throughout the whole competition.
Well done, Team JHS – you were outstanding!
