The day started with our Viking soldiers arriving with the sun, donning their red and green tunics, chanting and roaring, preparing for battle. Whilst some commenced a shield war of blood and strategy, others interrogated a lone, surviving monk from Lindisfarne.
The soldiers then returned to their quarters to rearm with self-made shields, complete with bosses and Viking designs.
Relaxing after battle, the Vikings played a game of Kubb followed by an open air feast on the battle field before fighting and interrogating resumed.
A brilliant day was had by all!
Special thanks to Paddy Harris for his amazing monk enactment, Mr Eyre for his fighting techniques, strategy, knowledge and enthusiasm and Mrs Eyre (Mr Eyre’s mum) for fantastic tailoring skills.
