On Friday 30th November, children, parents and carers from our school took part in a Lantern Parade through the centre of Thame.
It was a milder night than previous years and John Hampdeners were out in force! It was a special scene and always marks the start of the Christmas season for Thame.
The families carried their lanterns with pride, the result of our Family/Group Lantern Workshop, where the children made and decorated large willow lanterns. Smaller card lanterns were also carried, templates of which were provided by Thame Town Council, who also provided the funding for the Lantern Workshops.
We paraded down the high street, together with the two other Thame Primary schools, creating a magical site. The children then congregated in front of the Town Hall to watch the entertainment and sing Christmas carols by the town Christmas tree, awaiting the grand turn on!
Thank you to all who came to the event and we hope it got the Christmas season off to a festive start!
